I agree. That definitely shouldn't warrant a Mature rating. Granted, this is a tad bit risque for Al, but compared to stuff that makes it into sitcoms in primetime, this is nothing. Heck, I've seen worse in PG movies.

You've gotta cut Al some slack about being risque. He is a grown man. If you don't want your kids or students to hear the songs, of course that's fine. It's up to you. But it's not Al's responsiblity to cater to the standards of his fanbase's parents.

Oh, I agree. I have no problem with him being risque. I mean, I loved WBUL and I really love the CBNC video.

Exactly! I find it hilarious that this topic comes up EVERY album. There's always people shocked by Al using words like "slut," "bitch," "ass," and "bastard," or that he references things that are "adult." Crimeny, he's not Barney the dinosaur!

And with this album in fact, it's one of the milder. There are only a couple songs I wouldn't play for my students. "Weasel Stomping Day" because it's so graphic and my kids are too young to really understand the irony. And "Virus Alert" because of the reference to "porn." And even those two songs I'd play if they were my OWN kids, but since they're other people's children, I wouldn't.

But again, Al isn't making kids' albums here! He's not the "Wiggles."

On another note, I just wanted to mention here that after repeated listens I no longer stand by a lot of my criticisms of SOL. I enjoy the entire album a lot even including WSD. I guess I kind of get it more now. And I've been able to get over the Canadian Idiot music differences as well. I would definitely say Do I Creep You Out is the worst song on the album. It's pretty short despite the fact that I think there were enough jokes to sustain a full parody. I understand why he truncated White & Nerdy, but this could've gone on a little longer.

I liked this album. The best songs are Don't Download This Song, Canadian Idiot, Weasle Stomping Day, I'll Sue You, Close But No Cigar, and Pancreas.

I like the music videos. The music video for Close But No Cigar is the best. It also appears to be very adult for a Weird Al Yankovic music video. Although I think Don't Download This Song is one of the best songs on the album, the music video is how what I would have pictured it.

I think the point of the videos was less about Al and more about the various animation artists he appreciated and wanted to spotlight. I love "Close But No Cigar", but it's as much of a triumph as a John K piece as it is a Weird Al video.

I think it's his best work, but it may just be because I'm the most tuned into the moment of pop culture Al is attacking right now than I was for any other of Al's discs.

There are a couple of moments in a couple of the videos that are a little startling to me, but probably not to fans of those particular animators. But I'm OK with that. I got accidentally "spoiled" on "Close but No Cigar" by an advance review that had me thinking that Al had written a song about a cat-human romance, and I had a bit of trouble imagining an entire song with a "that goat doesn't love you!" theme. But now I see, of course, that the cat thing is purely the surreal contribution of Kricfalusi.

I love it that this album has such an extremely rich collection of twisted love songs. I'm glad that being happily married hasn't dried up Al's fount of inspiration in that respect.

Yes, we definitely have. But we've upped the rating system for no reason. I think that if we changed it to the current system we got, TUVC ould be M aswell

Hell, TWAS got a PG rating for "Sexual References, Drug References & mild themes"
