I think these videos have great potential...it's Al afterall. Jurassic Park is one of my favorites. My current theory is the John K video will be fully animated with a Kricfulasi-esque Al character in it, and the Plympton video will only be partially animated (as was the one he did for Kanye West)...but. what do I know?

I believe that videos go a long way in selling the CD -- maybe even more than the initial parody does. Couch Potato was a fine song, but without the visual, it really affected the PH sales.
This means something. This is important.

So. About "Don't Download This Song."

Al just kinda proved this one false in that recent Wal-Mart.com interview. Although "Don't Download This Song" DOES sound like a title Al would use... it's probably a song, but it's probably not a parody of We Are the World.

Yes, it would appear that "Don't Download This Song" is either an original, or a parody of another song. I'm thinking it's probably an original, maybe even a style parody of sorts of "We Are The World". I only mention the style parody thing because of the fact the WATW was even mentioned, making me think "Don't Download This Song" has something to do with it.
Oh by the way, I've cracked the code.

Yeah, and besides, that song was mentioned long before they began recording the parodies.

I'm suddenly very much digging the idea of a parody of the Heard 'Em Say video, though I doubt that'll happen (As I've heard, neither the Gondry nor the Plympton version of the video made many waves)

I'm with Kevbo; I say it's a style parody of WATW. I think it's pretty significant that Al mentioned he wouldn't parody a charity song; almost like a hint that there might be a style parody on the upcoming ALbum.

First off, I'd like to point out to Demented Dustin that Al was indeed in Christmas at Ground Zero, at the very end. Jurassic Park remains the only video Al ever did that he wasn't in. He also said he had nothing to do with making it, either. Still a great video.

Ok, now that I got that off my chest, I agree with others that there is a possibility that the John K video will be a mixture of live action and animation, much like the one he did for Bjork. *I actually like that video*. I'm curious to see what the Plympton video will be like. Time will tell what either of these will be like. Can't wait to see them!

"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11

So awesome!

I didn't hear the interview (it's going to take more than Wal-Mart to get me to spend money on an upgrade to XP), but based on what has been said elsewhere and what has been taken from this new interview I'm going to side with the "style parody" theory. I would tend to think that Bill Plympton is more capable of not exactly recognizing a song correctly than he is making stuff up outright to the press.

But then again, when I read about Al saying he would avoid doing charity songs, for some reason I was reminded of what he kept saying in the months before "Poodle Hat" was announced, specifically about which one artist he wouldn't even think of attempting to parody. I doubt anything can be concluded from that, but it just seemed like a strange coincidence based on the discussions so far.

Oh well, I can't wait to find out! :)

The link is in this post.

You have to click on "walmart online radio" to find Al's interview.
