I have an idea for a Weird Al version of the Amazing Race. I know this was mentioned before but I think I have a way for it to work.

We would start out with a set number of teams each with two members just like in the show. Each time the teams would have to go to a certain site and there they would find something that they then PM to the host (either a link or a picture or something similar) Al related of course, the host would then send that team the clue for the next thing they need to find.

Even detours could be set-up like having to decide between finding a really hard to find picture or completing a puzzle of some kind. I don't know how the roadblocks would work out because you can't guarantee that the person isn't receiving help.

The tricky part would be figuring out how to eliminate a team after each leg of the race. One thing is though that if your teamate doesn't show up you can still complete the challenges it will just take you a lot longer to find the things you need.

There are still a few tweaks that need to be made but if you are interested or having comments than let me know.

That sounds like it could be fun! I'm not a huge fan of the show (I do enjoy the seasons I have on DVD), but it seems like it would be fun to play.

My one concern would be the amount of time the host would have to commit to the game (it sounds like he/she would have to sit around every challenge to PM new directions ... if unable to be there, the players would get lumped all together no matter how quickly the found the previous site or whatever ... that's also one of the things that kind of annoys me about the show ... I guess you could base it off of the time the PM's were received, and stagger everyone out, but it still would require a lot of hosting time and effort ... or at least the way I am imagining it).

Anyway, I'd be interested in something like that.

Yep, Ak's concern is the only reason why I don't think this has ever gotten off the ground yet. I'd love to play it though; Driew and I could be paired up as Reality Show Addicts.

Well, actually, if designed well, the players could be led to search for clues which point to a specific post in a specific thread in the forum, in which a link is located that goes to the next set of directions. That way the host wouldn't have to PM the players new directions for each leg. Instead, the players would get the next set of directions as they went along in the challenge. If memory serves, Doc and I did a challenge like that for SAS, where a message was buried in the forum somewhere.

Ok, get this: Four Degrees of Weird Al!

Someone picks a person or thing, and everyone else has to connect said person or thing to Weird Al with four or less other things, eg:

Iron Lung - Mr Frump was in one - Mr Frump was in the song - Weird Al etc.

Waddya think?
