World of Weird Al Yankovic

Well, even though you listen to rap, and it's second nature for a lot of rappers to rap fast, I still think Al did a great job on White and Nerdy. Chamillionaire was impressed. He seemed more impressed than you are, Ryan. I give Al a lot of credit. Don't slight him.

A parody of "Trapped in the Closet" is superhuman, as far as I'm concerned.

Not to mention sheer genius. I love it!

See, I was going to say the opposite Ryan. Considering every song on SOL was basically an imitation of a male-led group/artist (Chamillionaire, Sparks, RATM, Hicks, R. Kelly, Usher, Green Day), Al certainly had no incentive to pull any Toni Basil/Madonna type feminine vocals, or even Wacko Jacko vocals...(:P)...he wasn't a truck driver, he wasn't imitating many artists with downright unique, either crazy high or crazy low ranges. The bridge of DICYO is purely Hicks: Al nailed it. I couldn't believe some of the high notes he hit so beautifully on TiTDT. "I'll Sue Ya" stretched Al's vocals to a level I couldn't even appreciate at first, till I got used to it. I will agree that Al's voice does sound slightly different overall on SOL than PH, for instance, but he has found a common ground for himself, vocally.

Also take into consideration that SDMCA and Ricky were off of his first album...ya know, 23 years ago...and it makes more sense his vocals would be different from song to song when he was still a young guy than a...looks like he's still pretty young guy.

I also think SOL is his hardest album to date to sing. I've had trouble singing some of the songs, WITH lyric sheets in front of me, even when I had memorized the words. Al really challenged himself musically on SOL, and I give him all the credit in the world for that!!

So many of the songs on this album just sound really good! Al's voice is exceptional on Virus Alert and so many others (should write comments down as I listen).

One thing I really like about the dvd is the helicopter on the menu page!

You can hear a helicopter, and I think there are even search lights. Also, a street light gets shot out, and you can hear a woman scream on one of the other pages.

I thought she meant you could SEE a helicopter......that's where the confusion came from...but the sound effects are classic, I love them!

Have you noticed how much Don't Download This Song sounds like the 80s charity song, Hands Across America by Hands Across America.

That was one of the inspirations for the style he was parodying, certainly.
