Their was a song called We Are The Worms that was played on Dr Demento a long time ago but he had to stop playing it because the original music was still there (it is credited to some other people but it wasnt really by them). It is sort of irrelevant to this conversation but I was wondring if anybody has a tape of the song being played on the show ( I have the full song but i am looking for Dr D talking about it).
Is this it?
We Are the Worms
I'm at work, so I can't really listen to it yet. Is it any good?
(Surely it's better than that last attempt at a parody!)

The point that Jeremy brought up is an excellent one. I never thought about the fact that the proceeds from a direct parody could be donated to charity. I'm not sure if that strengthens the argument that "Don't Download This Song" is a direct parody, but it does make a pretty good case for it.
It occurs to me that "Don't Download This Song" isn't a very good match, phoenetically or syllabically, for "We Are The World". Is IS, however, spot-for-spot if it were a parody of "Don't Disturb This Groove."
I definitely think it will be on the album. I just think it will be a style parody. I mean, Bill Plympton did say that he was animating a video for a song called "Don't Download This Song". Unless the title was just something used to throw us off, it seems pretty safe to say that it will be on the album.
