I don't know if this has been brought up, but this song reminds me a lot of a much older Al song - "Mr. Frump in the Iron Lung." It seems like the whole idea for the song was built around an amusing noise, much like "Mr. Frump." I wonder if Al heard Nina's squealing laughter (as young girls often do) and thought it sounded like weasels and that's where he got the idea for the song. It sure seems that way to me.

Does anyone see anything in the liner notes referencing what this might be a specific style parody of? I mean I get the idea but...

I don't know if it's a style parody of a particular song/artist. Al said on mtv.com that it's a style parody of songs in 1960's animation Christmas specials. I think it may have been more of a parody of that genre than a specific song.

I don't understand how people are all up in arms about this song. Have you listened to Weird Al's music before?
Guess which of the following things were mentioned in Weird Al songs:
A: Stomping a poodle until it was flat
B: Torturing Rats with a hacksaw
C: Giving a mohawk to your cat
D: Pulling the wings off of flies
E: None of these, Al would never sing such things
F: All of the above and none of them should be taken any more seriously than "Weasel Stomping Day"
If you guessed F, good.
If not, you may want to ask yourself what you're so upset about. If a goofy song like Nature Trail to Hell didn't bother you, but a goofy song like Weasel Stomping Day did....you probably need a little help.

I didn't think this song could be any better...and then the sound effects came in.

Love it.

The sound effects really were perfect. I was already chuckling, but when I heard those, I just about lost it.

I noticed the Karaoke version didn't have the weasel noises

The brain-dead AOL'er in me says "me too!!!"
There's a karaoke challange presented here. Can you accurately vocally reproduce the 9 stompings without assistance? I knew it, there IS celery involved.
There are extra "stompings" in the video. I've not scrutinized it yet, but perhaps a stoopid monkey added those stompings, and not Al?
