Most reaction to Weasel Stomping Day is at "gut" level (pun intended).
There's no way I can be
talked into enjoying it, no matter how much I understand it intellectually. If people don't get grossed out by it, then more power to them, and I wish them well in their enjoyment.
I also won't listen to The Good Old Days due to the reference about torturing rats in the basement. I won't listen to Poisoning Pigeons in the Park (by Stan Freberg) either because we deal with lots of poisoned wildlife at Sulphur Creek, and it hits too close to home.
Just my personal preference.
And, no I'm not going to categorize "blowing my nose and wiping it on your cat as animal cruelty." Man, think how much that cat could bring on eBay!

Exactly. And really how much more brutal is it to stomp a bunch of weasels than it is to butcher millions of turkeys every Thanksgiving?
Ew! A dead bird!

I don't know. I think if I were a cat I'd rather be stomped than have some schmuck wipe his snot on me.

As much as I like Al's work, I don't think I'd enjoy having any of his bodily secretions rubbed on me.
*Imagines the uncontrollable fit that I've just caused in many of the Al-Gals*

Hey, atleast then we're eating what we kill. It's productive!
The weasel stomping noises gave my friend, name disclosed (as she may hit me if I share it with internet dwellers), was creeped out by the noises, so I can easily see how you can get creeped out. It even gave me the shivers at first, but I've come to actually like the song.

I don't really find this song that disturbing or really gets at me. I know it's just a humorous song. Then again, I have a very much twisted imagination, so I love this song. I've also seen some even more twisted and disturbing things on TV or other forms of media. This song doesn't bother me at all.
Plus, the broadcast major in me is loving how the sound effects were made.

I was just fine with WSD, until the WS noises came in. Then I kinda got skeeved out. Then when I saw the video, actually watching the weasels get stomped, it was even creepier for me.
At first I thought I'd like it all more without the sound effects, but then I wasn't sure. I mean it's just so well produced and performed. A great Disney-style song, talking about a barbaric holiday. Should be a slam dunk.
So...do you think the song would still be funny without sound effects?

I feel sorry for the carrots, the watermelon and the other veggies and fruits that got maimed in the making of the weasel noises...
