Yes, and seeing from the footage extras on the DVD side, these sounds were foleyed (if that is such a word) over a garbage can--which means that not only were these innocent melons and vegetables squeezed and broken mercilessly, but the inards weren't even eaten.. making it much worse than a Thanksgiving Dinner where at least yams are tortured at the upwards of 350 degrees for their delisiousness (again, if that is such a word.. or even spelled right for that matter...).

Personally, I was revolted by the weasel stomping noises, because they were so "manufactured." They should have stomped actual weasels or at least squirrels to get a more realistic sound effect.

This song has never bothered me in the least, and I LOVE animals. If Nina can sit and giggle at it, why can't I?

But those poor tortilla chips, on the other hand... ;(

This song doesn't bother me either. I just think of it as satire, which it is. As in all satires, Al is simply taking an extreme position which he doesn't really agree with in order to point something out. I think part of what the song is pointing out is that some traditions are pretty pointless. I find the song very funny, personally.

I guess I'm just sick and twisted enough to also love this song. Who else thinks the squeaky sounds were made by squeaky toys? Well, some were made by Bo, but I hear definite squeaky toy sounds. So, knowing that the sounds were made by tortilla chips, celery, squished watermelon innards, and possibly some of Bela's squeaky toys, the weasel sounds are not disturbing to me. I find them humorous.

Actually, I think the style of this song reminds me more of Bob Rivers' Twisted Christmas tunes than it does the 60s Christmas special songs.

Well, the Bob Rivers Christmas songs are mostly (if not all, I'm not 100% positive) parodies themselves, so I don't know that they have a particular "style" to them.

I guess I'm with the majority that hears the stereotypical 60s holiday song on this one (and Al has said that this is what he was going for on the Dr. Demento Show as well)....

I have a theory on how Nina was involved in the weasel noise making-

Have you ever seen someone purse their lips together like a fish and suck in air? (Or been the person that did it) It makes a kinda squeally sound. It sounds like something like that is in there- I think its what you guys have said are the "squeaky toys". So its a combination of veggies/chips/edibles, Nina doing the squeally fish face noise, and Bo's squaking.
