That line is obviously a joke.

Well, right. It's meant to be tongue in cheek the whole time. Somehow most people miss that.

Robin Thicke is an awful human being and I can't wait for this parody to skewer him.

Sorry to disappoint you, but Al's only done three parodies that directly mock the original artist (four if you count "Billy Joel"). And judging by the title, the song will most likely not be making fun of Robin Thicke at all, but rather about common grammar/word usage mistakes.

I'll give you $1,000 if "Word Crimes" is about Robin Thicke.
Also, you're missing an apostrophe. #wordcrimes

Many Robin Thicke song titles use "2" instead of "to" and "U" instead of "you" and "4" instead of "for."
So there you go.

What about Confessions Part III? That doesn't mock the original song's concept?
There are plenty of Weird Al songs that indirectly and subtly comment on the original without overtly mocking it. For example, Eat It takes the same condescending tone as Beat It but instead of warning the listener about gang violence, it's about making sure you finish all of the food on your plate.
Just from looking at the tracklistings of the last two albums: Party In The CIA, Whatever You Like, White & Nerdy, Canadian Idiot, and Trapped In The Drive Thru all have that quality about them, in addition to the ones already mentioned (Confessions, Perform This Way).
I would be surprised if Robin Thicke wasn't satirized in the same way as the above parodies.

Yeah, but that's a common practice in song titles from lots of different artists. If Al wrote a song about people using "U" in song titles, it would be insanely stupid. He may touch on that kind of thing in the context of text messaging, but that's it.
