John Cleese was in the movie "Rat Race" which was directed by Jerry Zucker.
Jerry Zucker is one of the producers of the Naked Gun Movies.
Al has cameos in all 3 Naked Gun movies.

Neil Diamond is parodied with the unreleased "You Don't Take Your Showers" song. Plus Al's early guitar guy, Richard "Bopcat" Bennett, was also Neil Diamond's lead guitarist in the 1970s and 1980s.

Dave Thomas made a cameo on the Simpsons in the Prohibition episode. Al was on the Simpsons too (a different episode).

eddie van halenplays guitar, so does hendrix who was was shown as a kid on one of the super bowl commercials and across the street was an accordion shop, al plays accordian

Eddie Van Halen played a mean guitar solo on "Beat It." You figure out the obvious connection from there.
Mary Tyler Moore was mentioned in the Weezer song "Buddy Holly" which was cut from "The Alternative Polka" at the very last minute.
