Please don't post spam here. That has nothing to do with Al, or the topic being discussed.

As far as Al parodying Taylor Hicks, I thik the funniest thing will be if he sings the song in concert, and does the Taylor Hicks dance moves *like Jeremy already said*, which, to me, are very reminiscent of how Joe Cocker moves.

Psst, YF, you forgot the most obvious: "Do I Sing To Loud?" I know that "bake" rhymes with "make", but it doesn't make sense. Anyway, that one just came to me.
4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:

"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11

So awesome!

But "Takin it to the streets" was featured on the American Idol Encore CD as well as being the b-side on the "Do I make you proud" single.

I agree that "Do I Make You Proud" is not quite as bad as some people (*cough* Jeremy) are saying it is. It's a crappy song, and definitely the worst song written for an AI winner, but if that is the song Al's parodying, it definitely won't be the worst original song he's ever parodied. I do think this is the song Al will parody, just because it is the only original song that Hicks has released nationally. I think it would be awesome if he did a "Takin' it to the Streets" parody, especially to see Al dance like Taylor, but I think "Do I Make You Proud" is more likely. And I wouldn't worry about Taylor not being well-known internationally. I'm sure he'll be getting plenty of international exposure very soon.
Oh by the way, I've cracked the code.

Yup. There's many songs that are international hits before they show up in the US (And that includes songs by American artists), and it does work both ways.

By the time the album's out, Taylor will probably work his way outside America.

i love Taylor hicks, but i am not a fan of DIMUP, but that's all i see Al doing, unless he parodies Takin It To The Streets, which hicks covered.

Yeah, anyways Al rarely if ever leaves the chorus the same, so I bet he'll change it up a lot.

I think I pretty much agree with what Kevbo said. Ok, not the best idea for a paody, but this is Al we`re talking about! He can make a great parody out of anything. I even liked Toothless People for crying out loud! I`m sure the parody will be fine.

Yes, I agree with MarsBar. I'm not too excieted for this, but I'm sure Al knows what he's doing and the song will turn out great.

Well, I am so not an "Idol" fan at all, so unless I hear the songs on the radio I couldn't tell you who is who anyway, but it's very difficult to ignore the impact the show does have on the music landscape.

And sort of like with "Ridin'," yeah probably a lot of people haven't heard the song yet, but "Do I Make You Proud" still became a commercial hit right out of the gate nevertheless. It debuted on the "Hot 100" at #1...only thirteen other songs have ever done that.

So I have no worries about this guy being a parody target...heck, I'd take him over that "Numa Numa" thing any day.

What I am still puzzling over is how long ago this Taylor Hicks parody must have been recorded, since we only get one recent recording date (almost certainly White 'n' Nerdy) and a bunch of ancient ones. It would seem that the Taylor Hicks parody was recorded impossibly quickly and before anyone would know that he would be further popular.
