World of Weird Al Yankovic

Yeah, but Dare To Be Stupid was just a purely awesome album. None of those tracks were bad in any way, not that you said that but I couldn't live without listening to both whenever I want lol. I also really like Don't Wear Those Shoes, Cable TV, This Is The Life, Toothless People..every track so good. Hooked On Polkas is one of my favorite classic rock polkas too.

Polka Party was a complete failure and Dare to be Stupid was less of a complete failure. That's their differences.

Yeah in the eyes of people in mid 80's, when everything was still quite awesome in music. Your probably not a musician Im guessing? Dare To Be Stupid is one of the top 5 albums for sure. How was Polka Party! at all a complete failure? He did Addicted To Spuds and Living With A Hernia, pretty wicked parodies. I like the rest of the album more but, either way just cause it was followed by albums which did better like Even Worse and UHF doesn't mean it was a failure in the least, just happened to not be quite as popular, its still complete genius!

Once I looked at an almanac and it said that Al's breakthrough album was Dare To Be Stupid which was interesting.

Cause it was! Eat It made him really well known but Like A Surgeon took him even further and the rest of the album is definitely one of their best for sure. Yoda, arguably their best song, Dare To Be Stupid, One More Minute...they are all phenomenal parodies and originals.

Sorry about that. I got DTBS and UHF mixed up, but my point still stands. I admit that they were good, as all of the albums were. They just weren't as up to par, that's all.

Yeah, I like "Polka Party!" but it's easy to see that its weak compared to some of his other albums. I also like "Alpalooza" but its easy to see its weak too.

I would argue that "Weird Al Yankovic" made him famous, "In 3-D" was his break-through album, and "Dare to Be Stupid" cemented his fame.

Count me as a huge fan of Polka Party! My opinions of Al's songs and albums are constantly shifting, but there was a time (probably pre-RWS) when I called PP! my favorite album. Of the Rick Derringer-produced albums, I think it's still my favorite. All of the originals are solid gold, and there are a few brilliant parodies featured ("Hernia", "Spuds", and even "Here's Johnny"...which is unfortunately outdated but still a fantastic spin on the original.)

Strangely enough, I think the polka on PP! is the weakest of all of his polkas. That's okay, though.

I really like "Polka Party!" I think it's because when I first 'discovered' it, I didn't know any of the songs on it, as it was considered his "worst album," so it was like listening to a brand new ALbum, which was a cool treat. Also, I like the movie Short Circuit when I was little, so "Here's Johnny" was really funny (as I also knew who Ed McMahon was).

Polka Party is... meh. It's okay I guess. I mean, it's a rush job. And you can kind of tell. Back then, Scotti Bros. was pressuring Al to release an album every year, and as such, Dare To Be Stupid and Polka Party ended up getting bogged down with filler.

But it gets points for having Christmas At Ground Zero, which was pretty much Al's "smurf you" to the record label when they demanded a Christmas song.
