What? Who said that?
I think if it's about preserving food, it'll use "foil" in every chorus. Specifically "aluminum foil" in place of "we'll never be royals". I also think he'll be able to make it more clever than "Livin' in the Fridge". Otherwise it would have been a track 9 or 11 parody.

Pretty much every food guess has mentioned using spoil and oil along with foil. Personally I don't think Fridge is a bad song. It's easily the best parody on Alapalooza, so if Foil is that idea again, I'll be disappointed.

While I agree that "Livin' in the Fridge" is under-rated, I think "Achy Breaky Song" is probably a little better, but only because it's so scathing.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I love "Livin' in the Fridge" just fine, especially as an Aerosmith fan. I just think that Al's writing has gotten a lot more clever and sharper since "Alapalooza", and I think he'd be able to do more with the concept now.

My first thought was not about aluminum foil. There are other definitions of the word.
The song could be about being another's foil (i.e. "Weird Al" is the comic foil to the artists he parodies).
The song could also be about trying to accomplish something but always being foiled (like trying to be the kind of person Royals exemplifies as opposed to being different but being foiled in his attempts).

I feel like if it was about food the way everyone thinks (changing from foil to spoil to oil) he would've used a different title too. Plus, I just really don't think he's going to go the food route again.
He could even use the word foil in both choruses but use different definitions - from tin foil hat to "And I'll (we'll) never be foiled..."
I'd still like to see one more food parody from Al, since it's been 15 years since his last true food parody, "Grapefruit Diet." I know we've mentioned "Drive Thru" as a food song, but the joke in that song is more about the dullness of the journey than the fast food itself.

1., we know, we've mentioned other definitions, and B., a better way to go for that definition would be literary foils. I don't know if that idea is a funny enough for a parody, but I really also doubt "Foil" being a possible self-referential opus about Al's career.

Yeah, the more I try to think about other possibilities, the more I see this as a sort of Ockham's Razor sort of situation. But like I said, I think whatever the meaning of "foil" in the song, I'm sure it will be more clever than the average food parody.

Ooh, I could see that working:
So I always play foils...
(Foils...)

Here's a crazy idea. What if this is not a parody of "Royals," but instead a parody of "Cups," using aluminum foil instead of or in addition to cups? If that were the case, then the song might not actually be about foil, but the song name is instead a reference to the original song's name. Bermuda said that there's one song that skipped the band demo stage and that we would be able to tell which song it was when we heard the album. A "Cups" parody would certainly fit with that statement, especially considering that it probably isn't any of the other parodies. It certainly could be an original, but probably not for any of the bands that have been speculated to be style parody targets. "Foil" is 11 seconds longer than "Cups," and while I know that Al doesn't usually lengthen parodies (has he ever?), there could be some meta-joke with foil crinkling or something.
As I said, crazy idea.

I'll give you 1,000 dollars if "Foil" is a parody of "Cups."
