Scotti's album cover rules all.
I can't sing, nor can I play any instrument. I'm a great asset to the WOWAY tribute album.

If anyone wants to try a hand at recording my parody, go for it.

I too think it's possible to do this. For example, I have a mini-disc recorder and a really good microphone that makes good quality recordings.
This is how it would work. If people in one place were to make a recording of the music, they could email it to me (or anyone else with similar equipment) as an MP3. I could then play the MP3 file on my DVD player and plug my Mini-disc recorder directly into the DVD player.
Then, I could also plug my microphone directly into the Mini-disc recorder. I'd hit record on the Mini-disc, hit play on the music, start singing, and Voila! a good-quality recording of my vocals over music recorded elsewhere.
I've done this a thousand times with karaoke CDs; it would work exactly the same way. (And yes, I do have an Al karaoke CD, but it kind of sucks -- most of the tracks have applause running incessantly in the background. Bleah.)
Anyway, I've sung lots of leads in community theater, so if you need girl vocals, lemme know!

I've written an excellent song parody about Al, but I don't have the instruments or equipment neccessary to record it. I'd be happy if someone else wanted to record it. Should I post the lyrics here, or PM someone who volunteers of what?
BTW, Scottidog, I too love your cover art! Good job!

I don't think it would be off topic to post your song parody in this thread rather than in the parody thread.

Why not post it in the parody topic and link to it like I did?
I think that's a better way to do it, this way this topic can be about the logistics of the album.
I believe whoever is spearheading this tribute album needs to get Jay Levey's permission. That should probably be the first step.

Do you have Jay's email address? Also does anyone know the logistics of how PL was done?

Okay, this song was inspired by a 1992 interview on MTV where Al was talking about how people were always coming up to him suggesting song parodies. The lyrics will make more sense if you listen to the original song before or while reading the lyrics. Please note: The song suggestions given in this song are completely ridiculous and corny. They are like this on purpose to represent the many dumb ideas Al probably gets from people. I hope you like it! Well, here goes:
A Killer Parody
Parody of Thriller by Michael Jackson (Written by Rod Temperton)
New lyrics by Bruce the Duck
(Begins with Halloween noises much like the opening to NTTH. Over these sounds plays a clip from The Weird Al Show:
Well, judging by the old clock on the wall, it's time for "music*, Al's mail bag, that's right. Well, let's see what's in the old mail bag this week. Ah, it's a letter from _____________. And it says ...
The actual song begins here)
It's close to midnight
And I've been up since Thursday afternoon
I'm writing lyrics
And setting them to other people's tunes
Now is the time
For you and I to finally work together
I'll write the ryhmes
And you and your band can record the songs
We can't go wrong!
So how 'bout Driller! Driller night!
That guy's been making holes outside
And I can't sleep at night
Yes, this is Driller! Driller night!
If you don't stop that drilling I'm a
Kill ya! Kill ya! Tonight!
I've got a new one
And I have called it "My Heart Won't Go On"
About a heat attack
It's a parody of that hit by Celine Dion
Or Britney Spears
A gambling song called "Dealer One More Time"
Or Everclear
We'll call it "I Will Buy You A New Duck"
We'll make big bucks!
Or how 'bout Griller! Griller night!
We'll chop up some dead bodies
And roast 'em up all night
'Cause this is Griller! Griller night!
Just slap on some BQ
And we will Grill 'em! Grill 'em! Tonight!
I know you can write your own
Songs and you don't need any of mine
But I've got so many great ideas building inside
You will love them, you'll find
How 'bout "The Gong Show"
To Marilyn Manson's biggest hit
A Muppets tribute
We'd call it "Gettin' Piggy Wit It"
Limp Bizkit's "Nookie"
It'd be a song about the Cookie Monster
We'd call it "Cookie"
Or we could do TLC's "No Scrubs"
Don't want "no crumbs!"
Or maybe Miller! Miller Time!
I know that you don't drink but
It would be a laugh alright
Miller! Miller Time!
I've had so many beers
I'm gonna throw up, throw up, throw up, throw up here tonight!
Or Phyllis Diller! Diller night!
It doesn't really matter
Any title would be alright
Chiller! Chiller night!
You gotta do a parody of
Thriller! Thriller!
You know that punk they call "Slim Shady?"
You could do a song called "Kim Delany"
Or Offsprings "Keep 'Em Seperated"
You'd call it "Wrong Foot Amputated"
The Aerosmith classic "Sweet Emotion"
A surfers theme called "Sun Tan Lotion"
Or Sugar Ray's "Every Morning"
A funeral song called "Every ... Mourning"
Eagle-Eye Cherry's "Save Tonight"
A cave dweller's song called "Stalagmite"
There's Lenny Kravitz's "Fly Away"
You'd have a hit with "Fly Amway"
So take my songs and make them yours
I know your fans will quiver
When they hear your parody
Of Michael Jackson's "Thriller"
(Vincent Price inane laughing replaced here by Al's inane laughing that he often does on ALTV - You know after he says he will play all the videos that he wants to watch!)
