Hello. My name is Sharri and I'm a super big fan of Southern Culture on the Skids. I have listened to some of Weird Al's stuff in the past. I found out that Weird Al did a parody of SCOTS on his new album. It is called Lame Claim to Fame. It's a great parody, but I was surprised he would parody SCOTS because he usually only copies big songs like Michael Jackson. Anyway, what do you Weird Al fans think of Lame Claim to Fame?

I love Lame Claim To Fame! Easily one of my favorite songs on the album. And Al has a lot of style parodies of lesser known bands on his albums. You should check them out!

A style parody is where the song sounds a lot like a certain band or artist -- sometimes even one particular song, as is the case with Lame Claim To Fame -- but it's not a direct note-for-note parody of the original.
Usually, Al does these to make fun of a band he especially enjoys. On Mandatory Fun, all of the even numbered tracks are style-parodies.

Oh that makes sense because I was trying to figure out what SCOTS song he was copying but it sounded like a few different songs. Okay. Style parody. Thank you TMBJon. So Weird Al is a big fan of SCOTS then? Cool.
