louie the potato-

If you're referring to me as being Mormon, nope I'm not. It was just a misunderstanding on what he was saying, and jerrymustbeslaughtered already cleared it up for me. Thanks for your concern. :)

Genius In France: I don’t know what to say about this song. I know I am probably interpreting it wrong, or at least not in the way Al intended. With recent events in The World it becomes a pretty political song. I had wondered if this was the “gee, I never thought Al would do that” song. But when I look at when it was written, I don’t think Al meant it that way. Either that or he was being prescient again.

It's not a political song. For one, remember, the song is an original, and those were recorded last year.

It's actually a tribute to Frank Zappa. Nothing political here, but many people will probably think that.

Well, yeah that's what I thought. The piece I was missing was the Zappa thing. Now that I know it's a Zappa reference, I understand why it was included. I still don't get it, cuz I don't know Zappa (Minnick, please forgive me!)

To achieve this desired effect, listen to "Special Olympics" by Stephen Lynch.

Adrian

Hey, Adrian- You like Stephen Lynch too? Cool! He's got this really soothing singing voice...but then you realize what he singing. hehehe- It's really awful stuff, I but like it. :satisfied:

Does lynch have a cd out? I've seen two or three of his standup acts, and I thought they were pretty good.

My overall impression of the CD is that it is a bit of a departure for Al. It seems to me to be more Al and less Weird if you know what I mean. It’s still pretty demented, but not wacky, zany, weird. More grown up. Less cartoony. I’m probably not expressing it very well. Musically I think it’s more complicated and shows off the talent of all the guys more than anything they’ve ever done before. I won’t bore you all by repeating it after every song so I’ll just say it once: I love, love, love the musical aspects of this CD. It is Al and TBITB at the top of their game. They should all be very proud of Poodle Hat. Am I making this perfectly clear? Only one criticism: not enough accordion.

I totally agree with everything you said here. Especially on "Bob" - that's not a traditional laugh-out-loud Weird Al song, but it's still really cool - and "Hardware Store" - the lyrics are only occasionally amusing, yet I still LOVE that song for its amazing fast-paced music and general weirdness. And I also agree, there should've been more accordion - he only plays it on three songs.
