OK, just for reference purposes (and to give a larger, non-hotlinked image):

I should point out that with this video appearing to be going full steam ahead, and the rumor that Al & TBITB are heading into the studio in January, things are starting to match up a little

Now, I don't mean to be negative but does the animator's style look a bit too silly for a Weird Al video. I mean, this is most likely not going to turn out like another Jurassic Park.

Do you think Al'd fire someone (or the record company would) if he thought the drawing style was too "silly"? I dunno. He might not, but chances are he's chosen her for a very good reason. It probably has a lot to do with the content of the song. We all know Al loves to do his research.

Well, we're just seeing preliminary sketches here. I'm sure that when it's colored and animated, it will look a lot better.

Are we even sure that those sketches will appear in the video? Could these just be ideas?

She did write that they were just layout poses...I suppose that could be the same as concept art?
Anyways, I'm really impressed! I have no doubt in my mind that the "creature" from the picture in the photo is the same one as the cat in this new picture posted. Stimpy's a cat, so that makes sense. She did say she was using reference to Betty-Boop-esque characters, so maybe they used Stimpy as a reference for this particular character?
I'm trying to put the pieces together...I don't see how a stalking cat fits into a video about girls...well, I guess there are many ways it can fit...I'm just trying to pinpoint one that would go along with his style. Hmm. Interesting. Vewy intewesting.

Keep in mind gang that she's working under John Kricfalusi's direction, so he's ultimately deciding which character designs to use...and I think it's fair to say that John's animation style (when restrained slightly) fits nicely with Al's style of humor.
Anyway, in animation, layout drawings are used as visual direction guides for the animators to follow. It has varied greatly over the last several decades as to whose responsibility it falls under, but traditionally layouts have been drawn by either the director or a key artist working alongside them. So, there's a good chance those specific poses will end up in the final video, fully animated of course.
