The part that hit hardest for me was the part about "doesn't matter if you're a grandma or a seven year old girl..." At least Al keeps up to date on the news. ;)

Can someone post the lyrics? Please?

'Cause it's taking me an hour to load Al's Myspace, let alone download it! >:S

Wow, I was listener #4, so that's pretty cool I guess.

What an excellent song. I'm really digging the harmonies on the chorus, and I think the guys really captured that quasi-uplifting-yet-annoyingly-self-righteous "attitude" (for lack of a better word) the music in these kinds of songs usually have.

Some of the lines might not be laugh-out-loud funny (although, to be fair, many of them are!), but it's nice to hear some relevant social commentary in Al's songs again. A lot of times in the past Al's work had been criticized for being not so much parodies in the satirical sense but more like defanged sound-alikes, but really, this is pure satire all the way.

Can't wait to hear the rest of the album!

Damn, didn't realize they would take the link down after a couple of hours already... now i can't join in the talk about this. Blast Europe for being so far from the east-coast...

While it's probably not encouraged, it was a free download so i feel kinda OK to ask: any alternative locations for the file out there?

Thanks!

Jevos (who preordered his first Weird Al - album; yes, you can see him here; a true Weird Al virgin!)

Hey Jevos, welcome!

The download link is still on Al's MySpace page as of this moment. Does the MySpace music player load properly for you?

I never caught the cheap b*****d line 'til it was mentioned. Thanks! Although, knowing Al's stuff, I really should get in the habit of paying attention to the fade-outs! :P

Maybe I missed it, but who are the background singers? And I don't think Al's voice ever sounded better (or stronger). WOW!!! *runs back into her AIH*

Now I REALLY can't wait 'til next month!

I downloaded it using firrefox and it worked fine...

I LOVE this song, so serious, then "how else can I afford another solid gold Humm-Vee? And diamond studded swimming pools, these things don't just grow on trees..."

Al isn't just taking a stab at hooligans, but also the artists with four mansions and 7 porsches that complain they're being ripped off

here are the lyrics, for those who would prefer not to venture into the spoiler forum to find them

Don't Download This Song

Once in a while maybe you will feel the urge
To break international copyright law
By downloading MP3's from file sharing sites
Like Morpheus or Grokster or Limewire or Kazaa

But deep in your heart you know the guilt would drive you mad
And the shame would leave a permanant scar
Cause you start out stealing songs then you're robbing liquer stores
And selling crack and running over school kids with your car

So don't download this song
The record stores where you belong
Go and buy the CD like you know that you should
Oh, don't download this song

Oh
You don't want to mess with the R-I double A
They'll sue you if you burn that CDR
Doesn't matter if you're a grandma or a seven year old girl
They'll treat you like the evil hard bitten criminal scum you are

So don't download this song (don't go)
Pirating music all day long
Go and buy the CD like you know that you should
Oh, don't download this song

Don't take away money from artists just like me
How else can I afford another solid gold Humm-Vee?
And diamond studded swimming pools, these things don't grow on tress
So all I ask is everybody please

Don't download this song (don't do it)
Even Lars Ulrich knows it's wrong (you can just ask him)
Go and buy the CD like you know that you should (you really should)
Oh, don't download this song

Don't download this song (oh please don't you do it, or you)
Might wind up in jail like Tommy Chong (remember Tommy)
Go and buy the CD (right now) like you know that you should (go out and buy it)
Oh, don't download this song

Don't download this song (nah nah na-na-na-na-na noooo)
You'll burn in hell before too long (and you deserve it)
Go and buy the CD (just buy it) like you know that you should (you cheap bastard)
Oh, don't download this song

It's actually Lars Ulrich. He's the drummer for Metallica and one of the most outspoken anti-pirating artists.
