I don't think it is the high school. The iron fence and background buildings indicate an industrial area to to me.

I've been searching around Lynwood, CA on Google Earth trying to those buildings, fence and brick wall. I started in the industrial area around Martin Luther King Blvd, but nothing yet.

It does look industrial (a bit different from: http://www.weirdal.com/acf66.htm ) ;)

Please let us know if you discover anything :)

Good stuff, huh! :Y

Pic provided to by 'Get Bent' at 50mmlosangeles.com. I paid my $5 to join that site and posted a link to the ALbum cover, asking if anyone could help identify the location or artist. 'Get Bent' said its behind the Homeboy Silkscreen building and provided me with this picture he took!

I was waiting to comment until I saw the whole thing, but I like both the cover and the title a lot. And although the following is in no way a scientific approach to marketing research, it is somewhat telling ...

Yesterday, I replaced the desktop on my work computer with one of the wallpapers from the Mothership, and downloaded the cover from MySpace. And then, randomly, I pulled ten people into my office to look at the wallpaper (I basically just said, "Yo, come here!" as they walked by my office).

Some comments?

"Wow! That looks awesome!"
"Weird Al still exists? When did he turn cool??"
"Al's got a new album coming out? That looks great! It really catches your eye!"

And then I showed the same people the actual cover:

"Straight Outta Lynwood? That's GREAT! I love the Compton album. What kind of songs is he doing?"
"Lynwood?" (I explain) "Ha! That's awesome!"
"I like how the name and title look ... but I wished he hadn't covered up that awesome wall!"

Once I explained that the album was "dropping" on September 26th, and more stuff about it (read: spoiler information I can't put here), their reactions were even more positive.

Nine out of ten said they would definitely check it out (the tenth is a prude).

Anyway, I'm just saying that the cover and the title are both eye catching, even to people who aren't exactly fans. I strongly believe Al has a huge winner on his hands here (and that's even without hearing any of the songs!). :)

And that's awesome, U62! Awesome find!! Thanks for spending that five bucks (money well spent) and sharing the picture with us!

Wow! Excellent find! It would be great if we had some giant pictures of the entire thing.

Great find U62! Thanks for posting that. That can put some major speculation to rest.

Wow! Thanks U62!

Homeboy Industries sounds like a fantastic organization too. Perhaps Al will be giving props to them and the artist(s) on the cover. Knowing Al he probably gave a donation.

(look at me using the word "props" )

Hear hear.

So at least now we know for sure that most of it was just random (or at least not Al-related) graffiti that was then later tweaked and recolored digitally.

Cool find!
