I consider myself to be a major WAF! I have all the CD's (YES even Peter and the Wolf) all originals. Also originals of UHF on VHS and DVD, The videos DVD, WAY Live DVD, and WAY too much other stuff to list. I drove for 14 hours AFTER WORK one day to get to the opening day of Alcon III (I can't afford to fly). I spent the equivalent of about 3-4 days salary to have a silver 'Pentium' suit custom made for Alcon III. I belong to a couple WAY message groups, I notice 27's everywhere, I listen to Dr.D every week, etc.etc.etc...

My opinioin on MP3's is that you should buy his albums and only DL MP3's of stuff that you CAN't BUY anywhere (unreleased songs). If the unreleased songs were on a CD in stores, I would buy it and not need the DL's. If Al's CD's just sit in a store and don't sell, then the stores will not want to buy any more the next time he does an ALbum. If the stores won't buy his new CD's, the record companies won't pay him to release any more CD's. He would be dropped if his stuff didn't sell. IF YOU WANT TO PUT AN END TO AL'S CAREER AND NEVER SEE ANOTHER NEW CD, THEN YES BY ALL MEANS, DOWNLOAD HIS STUFF ALL DAY LONG AND ENJOY, CAUSE YOU'LL NEVER GET ANYTHING ELSE AND YOU'LL PUT A BRILLIANT ARTIST OUT OF A CAREER!

-just my 2 cents

P.S. I can see a few songs until you can find, afford, etc. to get the CD, but if downloaded Al is your soul (or main) source of his works and you have the means to do otherwise.... SHAME ON YOU!

So, JK. How do you really feel about it? LOL!

Don't even joke about it! But you make the point well. Because the bottom line is the only thing the record companies care about. If Al doesn't sell the music, it won't be there at any price. Not nice to think about.

Even Peter and the Wolf?

Can I be your friend?

Um... :lookround:

Not an actual copy, it's burned. ~sobs~ I still have every intent of getting the actual one from ebay someday but...They go so expensive on there and I lack money. Bad Al fan!

:wow: I'm gonna have to get another summer job this year, won't I? Just to spend it all on Al again. That's where the previous summer went. :listen:

But you can still be my friend!

Well, sure you can still be my friend. We'll just have to find someone else who will let us listen together...

You know what kills me, is that somewhere in the bottom of some kid's toybox is my copy of P&TW

Wendy Carlos' current label, East Side Digital, was supposed to reissue "Peter and the Wolf" a while ago, but every time I've asked them about it I keep getting different stories.

First, there was a licensing problem with all of Wendy's releases, and they were hoping to get "Peter" out (the ALBUM) by 2001.

Now, they claim that her management is having a problem with rereleasing it. This is from an April e-mail from the label....

"Wendy's management takes the lead in recovering rights to her old

recordings. As far as we have heard, that one is still tied up."

So, who knows what's going on. I don't think Al would oppose to the album being reissued, and I'm not sure how much say CBS has in the matter or if they still retain the rights to it. So, would Volcano be the one causing problems?

I was lucky enough to track down copies of "Peter" on all formats right before it shot up in price on the secondary market, but I definitely sympathize with those of you who are still trying to find it without destroying your credit.

In the meantime, just keep your fingers crossed that this little label is successful in getting it back out there.

As far as a picture of the suit goes, There are pics of me in it in the Waylive Yahoo Al group and there's a pic on the Alcon III site that you can see me sitting a few seats behind Al.

As far as the Peter and the Wolf CD goes, yeah you gotta save for a while on that one and I don't expect that maybe less than 10% of Al fans have it. I was really lucky to find a 'Buy it Now' on Ebay for $50. Man, it's sad when you feel lucky to pay $50 for a CD!!!!!!! I wish Al could have seen some of that money :( That's the part that really sux!

I Consider all Al fans to be my friends!!! :) :) :)

I may not own "Every Al Item Ever Made" but I am off to a good start considering I will have been an Al fan for 9 months and 30 days as of tomorrow. I own all of the current studio Cds and The Food Album, and one I cuoldn't find on WeirdAl.Com, The Divorce Album. Maybe it is a single cause it only has 2 tracks???
